FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The main unit notifies low battery. I've checked and changed the battery on it but still notifies it.

The main unit's battery warning is common to all units in the alarm system (excluding any moisture sensors). Each detector/sensor also has an LED that flashes green when they are turned on and have a fresh battery. If the battery on a device is low, it will start flashing red. Short flashes every 10 seconds. To find the device that has a low battery - turn on either the night alarm or the burglar alarm, wait for about 20 seconds and check all the devices and see which of them flashes red (done during the 3 minute activation period).

If none of the detectors flash red, the batteries in the main unit are weak.

The propane gas detector is connected to the housing battery and it draws some power, approx. 20mA. I'm afraid it's going to drain the battery. According to what I've been told, it can be connected without draining the battery. Does my detector draw too much power?

The propane gas detector will normally reach approximately 20mA when the 12V battery is on charge or maintenance charge. Then this consumption doesn't matter. If you disconnect the charger, after three days the propane gas detector will go into power saving mode and use completely negligible power. It does so by measuring only 4 times a day, which is enough when the device is not inhabited.

I'm afraid I'm going to sound the alarm at night when I see the burglary detectors standing so they can "see" me if I get very close to the doors. Do I have to keep my distance from the detectors?

When the alarm is in night alarm mode, the motion detector on the main unit will detect that you are up and strolling at night and if you are then also detected by a burglary detector, the alarm will understand that there is no burglary and will not sound alarm since the main unit will see you first.

Does Avara react to socalled "knock-out" gas?

In this context, the term "narcotic gas" is not very precise. What kind of gas it is is completely unknown and subject to much speculation. Traditional "narcotic gas alarms" are therefore equipped with a sensor that is assumed to be able to detect the relevant gases, but with a high degree of uncertainty. Such sensors are the main cause of false alarms and alarm systems not being used. This creates a false sense of security. Avara has therefore chosen to solve the task of detecting impacts and break-ins from the outside using smarter external detectors and intrusion detectors. It will still give an earlier warning than a gas detector.
"Universal gas detector" is nevertheless available as an option if desired, against our own recommendation.

I test the propane detector with lighter gas, but it does not give an alarm?

When you test the propane gas detector with gas, you will see that after a few seconds it flashes red. It has then registered the gas. It then takes another minute for an alarm to be sounded. This is to eliminate potential false alarms triggered by short-term gas emissions, such as from a dog lying on the floor and "gases."

When I turn on the burglar alarm, do the external detectors no longer sound the alarm as they do when it's in the night alarm?

Movement on the outside is not burglary or illegal. Therefore, this is not an alarm state. In the night alarm, however, this is much more interesting to be warned about, as there may be talk of an impending burglary. That's why there's a difference.

If someone breaks in, is it just to remove the batteries from the main unit to turn off the alarm?

No, it doesn't help. Although there is a delay in input, a message has already been sent to the siren and modem. And if no receipt from the main unit has been read in a short period of time, the alarm is sent out from the modem and the siren sounds the alarm.

How often do I change batteries?

It depends on its use and will vary. If you are not notified of low battery then switch anyway after 5 years. It ensures that the batteries do not start leaking and thereby could destroy the devices.

Does the battery type matter?

Yes. Use only high-quality alkaline batteries. Bad batteries may fail over time and in the cold.

How many additional detectors can I pair into the alarm system?

A maximum of 64 in total.

How many code chips can I pair with the main unit?

Maximum 8 code chips.

Why are there different limit values at Avara and others that measure manually?

Avara Moist uses sensors that measure relative humidity. Manual meters with spikes measure absolute humidity. The values cannot be directly compared and do not have a fixed conversion. In general, relative humidity measurements therefore have a higher numerical value than absolute measurements without the humidity being higher for that reason.
Avara's measurement method is more precise in detecting the risk of mold formation and not just moisture.

How long does the battery in Avara Moist moisture sensors last?

In theory "infinite."" They don't want to be drained, but they're ageing. So does the sensor, so we estimate the life of the sensor to 15 years, but it could be both longer and shorter. If the sensor is exposed to a direct leak and is filled with water or is long in high humidity, it is deemed exhausted, it has done its job and needs to be replaced.

How can I be sure that all moisture sensors work?

All the sensors paired to the modem are stored in memory and the modem expects measurement data from everyone. If one or more sensors stop sending, after a few days they will be reported missing and you will be notified by SMS and email which sensors are not working.

The moisture sensors do not transmit every day

The sensors send only a single short transmission daily. To save the battery, there is no double check and multiple attempts. This means that it takes little before a shipment does not arrive. This can be without impairment of the function as long as the sensor transmits at least once a week. Adversely placed sensors can behave like this. There is therefore no need to do anything before a sensor completely stops transmitting.

I have alarm components on the table, but I can't turn on (tested) night alarms

If all the detectors are located with the motion detector up, they will be able to detect movement in a sequence that corresponds to you getting out of the car/caravan and will automatically turn the alarm off for you.
Also, if you move the main unit after it has been turned on in Night Alarm mode, it will turn off as it perceives this as you driving and therefore automatically turns off the alarm for you.

When the alarm is installed, it will function normally.

I have installed the alarm and am testing night alarms. Does not cause any detectors to respond.

If you have been inside and turned the alarm on, then gone outside to test, the alarm has detected movement from inside and out and has therefore turned itself off again (automatic built-in function to avoid unwanted alarms).

To test this function, turn on the alarm and then exit quickly. Wait three minutes (activation period) and you should now be able to trigger the alarm by opening a door/hatch that has an intrusion detector fitted.

I press the pair button but nothing happens

If the alarm has just been turned on or off, it is busy communicating with all the detectors. Wait a minute and try again.
