Pairing of devices

Pairing additional detectors to the Main Unit

NOTE: All packages are delivered with all of the included detectors already paired. However, if you install extra detectors bought separately, they must be paired with the system.

Start by setting the Main Unit in pairing mode:

  • Open the front of the Main Unit by pulling the front/lid out from the bottom side. The lid is split along the ventilation groves along the edges, and is hinged at the top.
  • In the middle of the printed circuit board inside the unit you will see a small push button marked " Pairing " - press this button and the yellow LED indicator will start flashing.
  • The Main Unit is now in pairing mode.
  • You can take the main unit out of pairing mode, by pressing the same button once again. The main unit will also automatically time out from pairing mode after 3 minutes.
  • When the pairing LED is flashing, press the pairing button on the unit you want to pair.
  • If the pairing was successful, the LED on the main unit will flash faster for a few seconds, and you will get a short sound verification/“beep”.

You may pair a total of 64 different detectors in an Avara system. The pairing procedure is the same for all detectors, however with a few changes noted below.

If your pairing should fail, please take the main unit out of pairing mode, and restart this entire process over again. If you still are not able to pair the units, please contact Avara support www.avara.no.

Pairing Key Tags

Key Tags are paired just like other units of this system. You can pair a total of 8 tags to your Avara alarm.

  1. Follow the instructions above in the section “Pairing additional detector to the Main Unit” to locate the pairing button inside the Main Unit
  2. Press the pairing button inside the Main Unit and close the lid
  3. Hold the Key Tag in the normal position close to and under the Main Unit and press the lower part of the lid . A short “beep” will confirm the pairing process
  4. Take the Main Unit out of pairing mode by pressing the pairing button inside, or just let it time out after appr. one minute
  5. Please read the instructions above about malfunctioning pairing process.

Pairing the Modem and the Main Unit

This pairing is slightly different as it is the head unit that is paired to the modem. Therefore, first first put the modem in pairing mode by pressing the pairing button, and then press the pairing button on the main unit. You will receive confirmation by a flashing light and a short beep. Allow both devices to exit pairing mode by themselves or press the pairing buttons again.

Pairing the Moisture Sensors

Moisture Sensors are NOT paired to the Main Unit, but paired directly to the Modem (please note that moisture sensors included in a pack like Avara Moist already have been paired). Please pair your additional moisture sensors as described below:

  1. Press the pairing button on the Modem. The pairing indicator starts to flash
  2. The pairing button on the Moisture Sensors is reached through a small hole on the top of the sensor. Use a blunt object to press the button. DO NOT use a pointed sharp object. This will destroy the button
  3. Press the pairing button on each Moisture Sensor you want to be paired in. Successful pairing is confirmed by a fast flashing yellow/orange color on both the Moisture Sensor and the Modem (no sound signal).
  4. Take the Modem out of pairing mode by pressing the pairing button, or just let it time out after appr a minute
